Tungum Alloy Tube
TUNGUM is the trade name for an alloy of Aluminium-Nickel-Silicon-Brass, BS.EN 12449, reference CW700R. Originally conceived in 1918 as a visual substitute for 22 carat gold, TUNGUM was soon discovered to possess some remarkable physical properties that made it unique as an engineering material.
Those properties are just as important in today’s world:
High strength-to-weight ratio
Excellent ductility
High resistance to fatigue and shock
Highly resistant to sea water & its atmosphere
Non-magnetic and non-sparking
Clean bore features which make it ideal for hydraulic and pneumatic applications

TUNGUM is available in sizes up to 75mm diameter and also at working pressures up to 670 Bar. It meets or exceeds relevant British, French and American standards as well as MOD, army and navy specifications. TUNGUM alloy tubing and fittings also have the general approval of Lloyds Register of Shipping and Det Norske Veritas (DNV).

NB: Tungum will specify the most cost-effective material for the job. If the pipe work system is for the Oil, Gas or Petrochem industries, then TUNGUM alloy with its high level of resistance to marine corrosion would be the material of choice. For less hostile environments, however engineers could specify another material for a more cost-effective solution.
